Description
Each spring the rufous hummingbirds fly all the way from Mexico to British Columbia, Canada, a distance of over 2,500 miles. This little hummer was quite a willing model, sitting on his perch and showing off his magnificent feathers and fine profile. He was vigilant about defending the nearby feeder...rufous hummingbirds are especially territorial and usually drive off all others, making a sound something like "chee chee chee chee!" in their outrage.
