This is a commissioned portrait of a gray tabby cat named Ranger. This kitty's green eyes just pull you right in, don't they? No wonder he was rescued by a woman who makes it a point to show so many cats loving kindness. Here is Ranger's story, written by his "mom":
"I feed several stray cats in my area. One day I drove into my driveway and my neighbor called to me and said that a gray tabby saw my car and started running up the street. The cat came to me in the driveway and introduced himself, arching his back and rubbing against my leg. I know the language. I watched for him after that. He wasn't more than a year old at the time. It was the start of summer 2020 here in Texas and it was getting hot. He lived under all of the cars on my street to some relief from the hot sun. I started opening my garage every morning at 5am and he would run in and lay under my car all day. I called him Ranger. One morning when he arrived there was blood streaming from his tail - a winged...
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images.
