Description
Photograph of a sandhill crane coming for a landing after jumping in the air during a display, his wings wide apart, while a mallard duck looks on.The birds were photographed at George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta, British Columbia, Canada. A small flock of sandhill cranes has taken up residence in the sanctuary and the surrounding farmers' fields. They are fascinating birds to observe, especially when they start leaping in the air...the only challenge is keeping them in the frame!

Is this the crane equivalent of a fishing tale? Too funny! The disparity in size between these two birds is amazing. Love that you captured the magnificent wings of the crane. The colors of the plumage of the birds is matched by the colors of the path they stand on. Lucky you to capture this and lucky us that we get to see it through your lens!

Exactly! I live in an area that's pretty big on fishing so you see this gesture a lot. They're beautiful birds, aren't they? And very entertaining too. Thanks again for your very kind comments!
