Description
Photograph of a pair of scarlet macaws fighting over an almond in a tree, their bright, colorful feathers dazzling against the bland sky. This photograph was taken on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. I would often hear the squawks of mated pairs of macaws as they bickered over food or flew overhead. Scarlet macaws mate for life and they often reminded me of old married couples!

Thank you so much, Joe! There really is nothing like the sound of mackaws flying overhead...it's one of the reasons I long to return to Costa Rica. I just couldn't get over all the mackaws. They're such personable birds too!
