Artist's Description
This is a picture of my pet dog Osa, a stray who I rescued in Costa Rica. She was painfully thin and had an injured hind leg when I met her hanging out on the beach begging food from tourists. I brought her home to Canada and she's become part of our family, getting along very well with her "sister", a Staffordshire Terrier named Pogo. Osa is brindle and seems to be part greyhound. I turned her photograph into a pencil sketch by working on it in a couple of different programs.
About Peggy Collins
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. When you view my work, my wish is that you feel a sense of intimacy that deepens your own connection to nature. Aside from photography, one of my passions is creating portraits of cats, dogs, and other animals. I also have growing collections of abstract landscapes, trees, flowers, and musical instruments. I also enjoy creating collages using vintage ephemera from the late 1800's and early 1900's. My work has been published numerous times in books, magazines, calendars, greeting...
