Description
The phonograph (later called the gramophone) was invented by Thomas Edison in 1877. The mode shown here was called Edison's Home Phonograph and was invented in Edison's Volta Laboratory. The cylinder phonograph was created to record and play back sounds and was a revolutionary invention at the time. This photograph was taken at the Cowichan Valley Museum in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada. Also shown is a library of antique books including Encyclopedia Britannica and the History of the World. An old clock is also featured. A painterly look has been added to my original photograph.
