Artist's Description
This is a detail of William deGarthe's well-known rock carving in Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada.
At the age of 70, deGarthe went to work carving the granite wall in order to "release the figures sleeping in the rock for over 10 million years". He carved 30 figures in all and divided the work into three sections representing work, bounty, and grace. This detail is taken from the "work" section.
Unfortunately deGarthe died in 1983 before he was able to complete this amazing work of art.

I also enjoy creating collages using vintage ephemera from the late 1800's and early 1900's. My work has been published numerous times in books, magazines, calendars, greeting...
