Artist's Description
Photograph of a lone black wolf that was walking towards me, photographed on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. He was limping slightly with his head down as he loped along, until this moment when he looked up and saw me, my husband, and our two dogs. He stopped dead in his tracks and stared at us for a moment before trotting off fairly casually to his left, across a field, and into the forest.
On our walk back towards our van we saw what the wolf had been walking towards...an elk carcass. And to our amazement, there was a bobcat feeding there.
All in all it was one of those lucky days for a nature photographer...something that happened with amazing frequently on the Sunshine Coast, where wildlife abounds.
This image has been cropped a fair bit.
About Peggy Collins
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. When you view my work, my wish is that you feel a sense of intimacy that deepens your own connection to nature. Aside from photography, one of my passions is creating portraits of cats, dogs, and other animals. I also have growing collections of abstract landscapes, trees, flowers, and musical instruments. I also enjoy creating collages using vintage ephemera from the late 1800's and early 1900's. My work has been published numerous times in books, magazines, calendars, greeting...
