Often when I go on hikes in the winter here in British Columbia (in the Pacific Northwest), I see mist rising from the ground and swirling around the trees in the forest. Every so often I luck out and see the sun breaking through the fog and it always makes me think of God's light because of its dramatic, spiritual quality. That was the case on the morning when I photographed this stand of evergreens as the sun rose, casting sun beams through the tall trees. The forest seemed to have a lifeforce all its own. It wasn't until months after uploading this photograph that I spotted a heart shape where the sun is burning through the trees, almost in the center of the image...can you see it?

I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images.
