Artist's Description

Photograph of a cute little chestnut-backed chickadee eating snow from the branch of a pine tree in winter. Found in the pacific northwest, chestnut-backed chickadees are small passerine bird in the tit family, Paridae. They would often follow me around my yard in winter, knowing that I kept a stash of peanuts in my pocket. Sometimes they would even land on my camera or shoulders and they weren't too shy to eat from my hand. Their cheerful song would always brighten my days and I looked forward to seeing them in the nearby trees, often coming in groups and calling to each other.

A closer crop version in square format is also available.
