Description
Two bald eagles are escorted by a flock of seagulls as they fly over the beach in Comox on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, during the herring spawn. Huge numbers of sea birds descend on the west coast of BC to feast on the herring and their eggs year around the beginning of March. For days the ocean turns a gorgeous turquoise from the herring milt. It's a nature photographer's dream!

Great capture Peggy. Wonder if we were both there. I spent some time photographing the spawn there this year too. There were sooo many eagles and you capture this well.
Peggy Collins replied:
Thanks, Inge! This was actually taken last year. We missed the spawn totally this year unfortunately. Even went over to Hornby Island, got snowed on, and didn't see a thing except for a few eagles.
