Description
Photograph of an American mink with a freshly-caught fish in its mouth. This was a mother mink that I had the good fortune to watch as she hunted for food at low tide...this is one of the fish she caught by swimming along the shore. Her nest of babies was closeby under a dock. When this photograph was taken she had been dashing along the shore, darting in and out of the big boulders strewn with bull kelp. She ran by me towards her nest so fast she was a total blur but I could hear the babies squealing in delight when she delivered their meal. I would often find mink running along between the boulders at low tide, searching for food. Photographed at Gunboat Bay in Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada.
This image is part of a series of mink photographs in my Animals collection.
