Ever been between a rock and a hard place? I kept this cookie jar and flower rock (only found on nearby Texada Island) on our back deck just because I liked the look of them. One day I heard my "pet" squirrel Squiggy on the deck and figured I should grab my camera. I aimed through the living room window just in time to catch him in the act, when curiosity got the better of him. Squiggy was around for about three years and he was always entertaining. He was the beginning of my career in squirrel photography! This photograph won a Canadian Geographic magazine photo contest and was published in special editions of the magazine twice. It has also been published in many other books and magazines and even on limited edition coffee bags! I used to sell this photograph as a print and on greeting cards when I sold my work at craft fairs and the local farmers market. People were always commenting on what the image meant to them; they would mostly talk about determination and perserverance. Squig...
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images.
