Artist's Description
Whimsical artwork of a stylish African American woman named Shanaya walking her cat Shadow on a leash through the city streets of New York City at Christmas time in winter. Today Shanaya is wearing a funky and fashionable striped long coat over her equally fashionable and colorful striped pantsuit and striped platform boots, with a matching striped scarf flowing beautifully in the cold breeze. Her black cat Shadow is decked out in his warm striped winter coat that perfectly matches Shanaya's outfit.Together they make a striking pair on the streets of New York City and outshine the Christmas lights on the trees and skyscrapers in the background.
This cat mom and her kitty are part of a larger series to be found in my Catwalk collection.
About Peggy Collins
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. When you view my work, my wish is that you feel a sense of intimacy that deepens your own connection to nature. Aside from photography, one of my passions is creating portraits of cats, dogs, and other animals. I also have growing collections of abstract landscapes, trees, flowers, and musical instruments. I also enjoy creating collages using vintage ephemera from the late 1800's and early 1900's. My work has been published numerous times in books, magazines, calendars, greeting...
