Description
Photograph of a pair of scarlet macaws having a disagreement on a tree in the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. This pair of parrots was acting like an old married couple, all lovey- dovey one minute and then arguing the next. They both seemed to be digging for something in this tree (already full of holes) and if you look closely you can see some of the tree bark flying through the air. Wings and tail feathers would fly, and then they'd settle down and rub each other's beaks. It was wonderful to see their interactions and they kept me mesmerized for quite some time. Scarlet macaws generally live 40 to 50 years but can live for up to 90 years in captivity. Imagine being married that long!

Still amazes me that some places have birds like this like we have red robins......no comparison though
Peggy Collins replied:
I know, right? They were everywhere! We'd see them constantly...or hear them, because when they fly they're always squawking to announce their presence. They're such characters. They get my vote for Most Entertaining Bird.
