This is a commissioned work of Roo, a handsome tabby cat. He is one of 11 cats that his owners have adopted from shelters in the UK. Here is what Roo's owner has to say about him:

"We adopted him from a rescue centre and they had named him Victor. As he was a mature cat approx 12 years old we decided his full name would be Victor Mature (after the actor!!!) Thomas. I thought he looked very dashing like a one eyed pirate so first I started calling him Buckaroo the pirate then it just went to Roo."

Roo's owner goes on to describe how they came upon him in the shelter: "On the day I first saw him we were actually picking up a little sister for our first fur baby Babba and while we were walking through the Cattery I decided to walk to the end of the row. I was told there was nothing at the end as there were so few cats and kittens at that time waiting for homes but something just made me walk down and there he was all alone, no cats in pods beside him and none in front of hi...

I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. When you view my work, my wish is that you feel a sense of intimacy that deepens your own connection to nature.
