Description
Watercolor version of a lovely poppy in delicate pastel shades of pink and white opening its petals to show its bright green seed pod center. Based on a photograph taken in my neighborhood.
This is an opium poppy and in the center is where the latex is produced that becomes raw opium once it has dried.The pistel is composed of the stigma, style, and ovary. Surrounding the pistil are stalklike stamens (the stalks are termed filaments), capped by lozenge-shaped anthers. The anthers are where pollen is produced.
