Description
Photograph of a varied thrush perched on the branch of a hemlock tree. The thrush is a songbird that inhabits the forest of the Pacific Northwest. I used to have them come to my back deck just before it snowed because they knew they would find some bird seed that I scattered on the wood railing because I knew they wouldn't eat from a bird feeder. These birds have a lovely mournful song that is like a low whistle. I often hear their song in winter if I'm walking through the woods.
A digital watercolor version of this image is also available.
