Artist's Description
How perfect that the bright orange Julia Butterfly would land on the colorful orange and yellow lantana flowers, all against a tropical green background in Costa Rica. During both my trips to Central America, I was always chasing butterflies as they flitted from flower to flower, sipping sweet nectar as they went. I added several textures to this photograph to add to its painterly appeal.
About Peggy Collins
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. When you view my work, my wish is that you feel a sense of intimacy that deepens your own connection to nature. Aside from photography, one of my passions is creating portraits of cats, dogs, and other animals. I also have growing collections of abstract landscapes, trees, flowers, and musical instruments. I also enjoy creating collages using vintage ephemera from the late 1800's and early 1900's. My work has been published numerous times in books, magazines, calendars, greeting...
