Photograph of a red squirrel (or Douglas squirrel as they are called in British Columbia) licking an ice cream cone on my back deck during a hot summer day. Douglas squirrels are native to British Columbia and they're the only squirrels on the Sunshine Coast, where this particular squirrel was photographed. There are no grey or black squirrels on the coast and it's a good thing too because those guys totally take over and decimate the red squirrel population.
Funny how much squirrels like ice cream, especially in ice cream cones. Their favorite flavor is peanut butter, of course. Did you know squirrels have a serious sweet tooth? This is actually a fake ice cream cone, but we can always make believe.

I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. When you view my work, my wish is that you feel a sense of intimacy that deepens your own connection to nature. Aside from photography, one of my passions is creating portraits of cats, dogs, and other animals. I also have growing collections of abstract landscapes, trees, flowers, and musical instruments. I also enjoy creating collages using vintage ephemera from the late 1800's and early 1900's. My work has been published numerous times in books, magazines, calendars, greeting...
