Description
A carved wooden totem pole depicting an eagle guards the shoreline on the Sunshine Coast in Sechelt, British Columbia. These totems represent animals important to First Nation aboriginals, in this case the Shishalh Nation. This totem was erected on May 31, 2000 to celebrate the announcement by shishalh to seek a declaration of Aboriginal Title throughout the whole shishalh Territory, and to recognize and honour the people of tewanw (near Porpoise Bay, BC).
