Photograph of a sleepy barred owl yawning, eyes half open, after being pestered and dive bombed by an American robin which can be seen perched in the background preparing for another attack. In the springtime especially I often come across robins pestering owls as they protect their nests, sounding up the alarm that there's a raptor in the area.
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. Poor thing, trying to get a good day's sleep, and this robin is giving him fits, and now you want to take his picture! LOL It's lovely to see this majestic bird in a not-so-majestic moment. ;)
Peggy Collins replied:
Lori, believe me, the owl never took any notice of me. He often had his eyes completely closed despite the constant bombardment from the robin. I do feel sorry for them trying to get some shut-eye but they barely seem to notice somehow.
Bob Hislop
cool image, it's like a bored barred owl!
Peggy Collins replied:
Thanks Bob...or maybe he's telling the robin to buzz off!
