Artist's Description
My neighbor has a steep hillside that's covered in pink and white sweet peas every summer, which makes an inviting carpet of flowers that's practically begging to be picked so every year I get to pick enough for a few bouquets, photograph them, and otherwise enjoy them.
In this image I photographed the pink sweet peas in an antique pitcher and bowl with pretty rose patterns. The flowers are set off nicely by a soft pastel turquoise background in this floral photograph that I made to look like a vintage print by adding painted textures. This vertical floral photograph would suit a feminine decor with its soft pastel tones.
1st place in the "Just Bouquet of Flowers" contest, September, 2013.
About Peggy Collins
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. When you view my work, my wish is that you feel a sense of intimacy that deepens your own connection to nature. Aside from photography, one of my passions is creating portraits of cats, dogs, and other animals. I also have growing collections of abstract landscapes, trees, flowers, and musical instruments. I also enjoy creating collages using vintage ephemera from the late 1800's and early 1900's. My work has been published numerous times in books, magazines, calendars, greeting...
