This exotic tropical bird has red eyes, a bright blue crown, orange chest, and an incredibly long tail like a pendulum. As with all the birds I encountered in my trips to photograph the wildlife of Costa Rica, I found I could get quite close without disturbing them. Birds in the tropics seem to have a bigger comfort zone than North American birds.
I am a digital/mixed media artist and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I'm surrounded by the ocean, forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, and these things bring me joy that I hope finds its way into my images. When you view my work, my wish is that you feel a sense of intimacy that deepens your own connection to nature. Aside from photography, one of my passions is creating portraits of cats, dogs, and other animals. I also have growing collections of abstract landscapes, trees, flowers, and musical instruments.
